It was 11 degrees this morning. The low reached 4 and our high was 16. The sun and wind took a couple inches of snow away from us and then a half inch fell overnight for a total of 14.5 inches of snow on the ground. It's time for some hot coffee! I'll be hiking on the Alum Cave trail today so I should have another report on the trail conditions. 24 Comments Yesterday I posted the wrong link for my friends at Blue Smoke Coffee. So here it is www.BlueSmokeCoffee.com . I want to get this straightened out because without Blue smoke Coffee this wouldn't be possible! Kevin has a Mt. LeConte blend that is fantastic! If you buy the Mt. Leconte blend Kevin makes a donation to the Friends Of The Smokies. If you're local or in town visiting you can pick up some Blue Smoke at The Happy Hiker in Gatlinburg. You can also get it at Whole Earth groceries in Winery Square on Hwy 321 in Gatlinburg near the Smoky Mountain Outfitters. Or you can order it on line at www.BlueSmokeCoffee.com . It's clear and calm this morning. There's still 30 inches of snow on the ground. The high was 25 degrees and the low was 12 degrees. It's currently 19 degrees out and there will be plenty of sun today. I hope that the sun will melt out some of this snow. I would like to be able to get down the mountain for Christmas. Highway 441 and Cherokee Orchard road are still closed. If anyone is coming up this morning they will have to walk from the Twin Creeks ranger station. I hope that if someone hikes the mountain today they will stop by and let me know how the trail conditions are. I would like to know how far down the mountain the deep snow goes. Well, it's time for a cup of Blue Smoke Coffee! Looking for some Blue Smoke? Check out www.BlueSmokeCoffee.com. They have a Mt. LeConte blend! |
