We're expecting about a foot of snow. According to the National Weather Service there is a 100% chance of snow and ice tonight into tomorrow. Those new snow snow shoes will make digging out the out house a lot easier! Currently it's 29 degrees with mostly clear skies. The low was 23 with a high of 32. There is 3 inches of old snow waiting to be covered over with new snow. As you know the moon is almost full and I got some beautiful views of the moon in the clear sky.

Clouds Over the Valley, 1-27-10
The clouds settled down below the top of the mountain at about 9 pm last night. We had a beautiful view of the stars. At sunrise this morning the thick clouds continued to blanket the valley but the skies are clear and full of color up here. The snow flurries continued yesterday until about 8 pm. there was only one inch of new snow for a total of 6 inches on the ground. The 24 hour high was 18 and the low was 9 degrees. It's currently 12 degrees with the sun coming out strong.

Millie Made Dinner for Me, 1-27-10
Millie hiked up the groceries for a big salad dinner last night. All that fresh produce is really a treat up here. It was a fantastic dinner and a wonderful time that we got to spend together.

Snow And Ice Keep Everything Locked Down
The snow and ice freeze up everything up here. When I want to get into something I have to use a small torch to melt the ice out of the lock before I can get it unlocked. I really need to get all my water toted and any other outside chores done today. This may be the last pretty day until next week. There's more snow and ice coming in Thursday evening so it may be tough to get out and get things done. Don't wait until the last minute to get your firewood in because you may get some of this snow and ice too!

Millie On Mt LeConte, 1-26-10
Millie came up to see me today. She came up the Rainbow Falls Trail through 5 to 6 inches of snow in 10 degree weather. It takes quite a hiker to climb LeConte in this weather. And Millie sure is quite a hiker! Welcome back Millie!

I'll be coming down the mountain tomorrow with Millie and the rest of the crew. I'll spend Thanksgiving with my family and then come back up. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and spend some time with someone you love. The last week up here has been beautiful. The nice weather has made work a breeze! I plan on some snow and ice on my trip back up! Until then, have a nice holiday.
Well, I'm going to town for a few days. I'll be back soon so stay tuned! I'll post about my exciting hikes and adventures from town. I hope to have an awesome hike tomorrow. I'll be going down the mountain at sunrise. I'll take Millie with me so maybe we'll see you in town.
