Life On LeConte

Warmer temps have brought the rain.  there's already been .25 inches of rainfall and more on the way.  It doesn't look like it will be cold enough for snow.  It's 37 degrees on the mountain today.  The high was 41 with a low of 21.  There is still 6 inches of snow still on the ground but the rain should wash most of that away.

Window In the shack,1-19-10
I got out yesterday in the sunshine to take some pictures.  The reflection in this window is one of my favorite images on the mountain.  I revisited this spot to really take a look at the contrast between the weathered wood and the window.

Downed Tree On LeConte,1-19-10
This is one of many downed trees on the Mountain.  Damaging winds have brought down many live trees this winter.  The trail crews will have quite a job clearing trails all around the park.

Sunset, Mt. LeConte,1-19-10
And another fantastic sunset last night.  The clouds rolled in thick as the sun went down.  But they held off long enough for a nice view at the end of the day.

The Back Window Of The Shack, 12-28-09
After I reported the low temperature as 9 this morning the temperature promptly dropped to 5!  So far the high has reached 12.  It's been a crisp day to say the least.  I have been out for a walk and the mountain is beautiful today.  This image made me realize that the beauty of Mt. Leconte is reflected in absolutely everything here.

The Old fence Post, 12-28-09
I revisited the Old Fence Post today.  There's about two feet less snow around it.  Everything looks so clean when it's frozen.

I went over to check on Millie's Place (The Honeymoon Suite).  It's lonely without you Millie!
