Coldest Day Of The Year On Leconte (so far!) 01/02/2010
![]() The Weather Station, 1-2-10 It's the coldest day this year on Mt. LeConte. So Far! The low this morning was -2 degrees and the high was 19. It's currently -2 and snowing hard! We had 1 inch of new snow fall for a total of 13 inches on the ground. It looks like we may get some more accumulation before it's through. Highway 441 is closed again because of snow and ice. The road crews sure have had a workout on 441 this winter! With the weather and road conditions I may not see many day hikers today. If you are out in this weather today stay safe! CommentsJames workman Sat, 02 Jan 2010 8:38:25 am Good to hear you are up and running!! I guess you had some sun yesterday!! the pics are very nice!! Jim Johnson Sat, 02 Jan 2010 9:20:29 am WOW, -2 degrees. Brrrrrr. We looked at the Alum Cave trail about 3:00 yesterday afternoon. We were just looking, not hiking, and went out to the second bridge. The trail was solid ice. I can't imagine how the rest of the trail gets on further up the mountain. Stay safe and warm, best wishes. Jim Linda Whaley Sat, 02 Jan 2010 10:58:58 am Good Morning from Ixtlacauhan, Mexico. While you are having snow, we are getting some unusual rain. It usually does not rain here until June or July.
