Life On LeConte

Picture
Will Jorgensen and Jeff Woody on Mt LeConte, 1-25-10
At 9 pm tonight it was 14 degrees with 5 inches of snow and heavy snow falling.  Will Jorgensen of Maryville and Jeff Woody of Knoxville night-hiked up the Bull Head Trail and stopped in to say hello.  On a night like this I was quite surprised!  They hiked down the Rainbow Falls Trail.  Look how happy these guys look!  This is the kind of thing they like to do.  Jorgensen and Woody are avid hikers and trail runners.  They were well prepared and experienced.  So, do you still think you are hard core?  I don't!

Bullhead is hard enough on a beautiful sunny day let alone at night in the snow. Wow what hikers!

Hey Doug, after surfing your website and blog, it was great to finally meet you in person. Thanks for the invite in when we dropped by last night. Jeff and I finished later in the evening after about 23 miles. One of our shorter evening strolls, but with the beautiful snow and your hospitality, it was a great adventure! Looking forward to meeting again. Stay warm up there!

Doug, I echo Will's comments. The Lodge was an oasis on a bitter night. Very impressive what you are doing up there. Thanks so much for the hospitality. The beauty of the mountains on a snowy night was hard to put into words. It was also evident that if not prepared, that beauty can become deadly very fast.

I think these guys were well protected. Someone must have been asking for that protection. Notice ALL the orbs surrounding them. Anyone who knows about orbs in photos, understands the Spirit is there with them.
