Life On LeConte

The sun is out on LeConte.  We've warmed to negative 3.  I got out for some fantastic views.

It's wonderful when the clouds settle down below the top of the mountain.  It's nice and sunny up here and still grey and cloudy down in the valley.

It always amazes me how the snow and ice transform the objects I see every day.

You've made a new favorite photo for me! The one today of the view is gorgeous. But I love them all! Thanks for getting out and taking these. You might have to have a "gallery" showing some day!

I check your site everyday to see your excellent pictures. I set one as my screensaver at work. You need to frame and sell these. I am very impressed.

So, if I'm getting the names right, the photo shows, from left to right, The Woodshed, The Shack and Guest Cabin 1 (closer foreground) Is that right? That would put the Office to the left when you took the shot, but I see no evidence of that or the water tap.

Ahhh, what warm memories from the top of Mt LeConte over 25 years ago! My wife and I still talk about it - hiking to the top, donkeys bringing up supplies, hot food in the lodge, bears rummaging in the cabins - what a blast!

Sorry about the earlier blip. This is to say I love waking up to life at the top of LeConte. Thank you Doug.

I'm absolutely amazed! When I find a decent pair of crampons and a better down jacket I'm gonna come to get some hot chocolate! I'm sure it tastes much better with those views!

Found your site through Instapundit. Great pictures. I'm in Manhattan Beach, CA and do miss the weather back there.

You have a job that some people would be jealous about.

I love peace and solitude, and it seems you have it in bulk. I live in the middle of 80 acres in nowhere OK, and the silence is beautimous!

I am sure it is not all a piece of cake, but still, I envy you your separation from civilization for a short period. Especially if you are getting paid for it.

And I love the pictures. I don't know if it is sepia tones, black and white or what. But they capture the time, scenery, weather, etc., in just the right form.

Good luck and stay warm!

I swear Doug, I do not know these people and I did not pay them. But you see, they have the same thought I did. Maybe it's your cousin who knows them?

Peace Bro !
